Spend two nights at a northeast Connecticut historic inn, the Fitch House B&B, an architecturally significant house built in the Greek Revival style. Guests have the opportunity to learn about the people, houses, gravestones, and early landscapes of colonial Mansfield, CT, founded in 1702. An in-depth guided, walking tour features architectural analyses and historical information about the existing early buildings and the people who inhabited them, all located in the Mansfield Centre Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tour includes an ancient burying ground, also on the National Register. Here the Getaway participants can view the artistry of many uniquely carved 18th century gravestones that memorialize the very people whose houses they have seen on the tour.

A picnic lunch will be provided, either to be enjoyed "al fresco", or in the solarium of the elegant Fitch House in Mansfield Center if the weather doesn’t cooperate. The Getaway includes dinner in a nearby restaurant and the "Welcome Gift" of a lovely book entitled Historic Mansfield Center, published in 2002 by the Mansfield Historical Society.
